The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation is proud of our community impact in 2024. This year to date, SBTHP served over 15,500 visitors, over 14,000 community members, and close to 1,800 local youth. We are grateful for your ongoing help with this important work.
With your support, we continue to care for and preserve historic places. This year we revitalized the 1888 residence in El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park which is now home to the Archaeology Lab with a new roof, two new porches, and a fresh coat of paint!
We celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Asian American Neighborhood Festival and Film Series. We welcomed over 5,000 people to our Year of the Dragon Festival and unveiled the Dragon Mural, by local artist and designer, DJ Javier. We proudly opened our newest exhibition at Casa de la Guerra, "Manongs on the Central Coast: Forming Communities Across Generations."
You can expect more great programming in early 2025, including our annual Presidio by Candlelight event, a special evening of Asian American Short Films, our flagship third-grade school program “Our Communities, Our Stories,” and a presentation on Asian American history by Dr. Theodore Gonsalves, Curator at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution.
As 2024 comes to an end, we ask for your support to continue our impactful work, by donating to our Annual Fund. Many thanks for your continued support!

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

Unrestricted Gifts
Unrestricted Gifts are most valuable because they enable SBTHP to apply the funds where they are most needed.

Support a Program or Project
You can choose to support a program or project that is meaningful to you. These include the restoration of the Cota-Knox House, our public programs and our school programs.

Matching Gifts
When you make a gift to SBTHP or renew your membership, your employer may contribute an equal amount to SBTHP on your behalf. With this matching gift your dollars will go twice as far to support our preservation efforts and education programs! Depending on your level of membership, your company’s match could even upgrade your renewal level. If your company has a matching gift program please obtain a matching gift form from your personnel office, sign and return it with your gift—we’ll do the rest.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts
Memorial and Honorary Gifts provide a lasting tribute to a friend or loved one. An honorary gift recognizes a special person for their anniversary, birthday or a job well done. SBTHP will send an acknowledgment to the families of those memorialized or to the person honored without specifying the amount.

Pearl Chase Endowment
The Pearl Chase Endowment was created to receive and encourage planned gifts and bequests, and to provide a permanent financial base for the SBTHP's ongoing preservation and restoration work. A gift of $10,000 or more to the Pearl Chase Endowment comes with membership to our legacy group, Los Distinguidos.

Donor Advised Funds (DAF)
Donor Advised Funds are a fast-growing giving method and tax-efficient way to manage charitable donations. Donor Advised Funds allow you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time.  Grants made to SBTHP through Donor Advised Funds can be designated for SBTHP to use wherever the need is greatest or aligned with projects or programs that match your interests. Use this link to easily make a designation from your Donor Advised Fund through the DAF Direct.

Qualified Charitable Distribtuion (QCD)
A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity, including SBTHP. Owners of individual retirement accounts who are at least age 70 1/2 can contribute some or all of you IRA to charity toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met. In addition to the benefits of giving to charity, a QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income, which is unlike regular withdrawals from an IRA. Check with your financial advisor regarding the specifics of your retirement plan. Click through the links for information on how to support SBTHP through a QCD from Vanguard, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, Charles Schwab, and Prudential.
