First up is a set of photos by Fritz Olenberger and Michael Imwalle of Santa Barbara’s 231st Founding Day, held at El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park on April 21, 2013. The celebration of Santa Barbara’s birthday brought out local dignitaries, Presidio descendants, the lovely women of our local parlors of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, our excellent Soldado de Cuera re-enactors, and many members of the local community, who all enjoyed the party.
On the Friday before Founding Day, we invited over 200 local third and fourth graders for a day of living history demonstrations that focused on the history and culture of early California. You can tell by the photos by Fritz Olenberger and Michael Imwalle that our wonderful demonstrators had as much fun as the students!
